Canadians? Pucking figs

And people say Americans are ignorant. The kid wasn't even squatting or scooping up rice with his fingers.

Filipino table etiquette punished at local school
Lunch monitor tells student his eating habits are "disgusting"
BY ANDY BLATCHFORD
The Chronicle
A Roxboro woman has filed a formal complaint with a local school board after her son was disciplined by a lunch program monitor at Ecole Lalande for eating in what she says is a customary Filipino manner.
Luc Cagadoc's table behaviour is traditionally Filipino; he fills his spoon by pushing the food on his plate with a fork, his mother, Maria Theresa Gallardo, says.
But after being punished by his school's lunch program monitor more than 10 times this year for his mealtime conduct, including his technique, the seven-year-old told Gallardo last week that he was too embarrassed to eat his dinner.
"Mommy, I don't want to eat anymore," Gallardo says Luc told her at the kitchen table April 11. "My teacher is telling me that eating with a spoon and fork is yucky and disgusting."

"But my friends call me Hercules"

When I came across this article in CNN this morning, I began to wonder if I introduced myself as Oki Adonis Dude, would I be able to make time more with the babes?

To be or not to be Hillary Clinton
Poll: Use of maiden name changes way public feels about senator

(CNN) -- Who would make a better candidate, Hillary Clinton or Hillary Rodham Clinton? If you're thinking it doesn't matter, you're probably a Democrat.

Most Americans' feelings toward the Democratic senator from New York change depending on which name is used, according to a recent poll conducted by Opinion Research Corp. for CNN.

Including Hillary Clinton's maiden name increased her approval rating among Republicans polled to 23 percent. "Hillary Clinton" had a 16 percent approval rating among people who identified themselves as Republican.

Loose Change video

My colleague sent this to me yesterday with a comment: "I think every American should watch this."

My sister in law said my brother saw it last night and couldnt sleep. "He really FREAKED out."

It's a pretty thought-provoking film about a conspiracy theory surrounding the events of 9/11. Whether or not you choose to agree with it, it is definitely worth a look.

The Okidude "gets it"

In my arms, chest to chest, her body expands, then contracts with measured breath. I feel her heart beating against mine. We're cheek to cheek; she breathes in my ear. Her eyes closed, I walk her around the line of dance.

So warm. So soft.

An interruption.

My teacher stops us mid-motion. She and I end our embrace.

The teacher says something about me doing something inefficiently, then demonstrates how he wants it done. I acknowledge that I understand, then take her again into my arms.

We take a step or two. Then the teacher once more stops us.

Looking at her, he says in his thick Argentine accent: "You know, this guy is one of the few guys in the San Francisco Bay Area that actually gets it."

He pauses a bit, probably awaiting a response. He gets nothing but an odd silence.

I'm looking at her. She's looking at him, obviously confused. Then she looks at me. I certainly don't know what to make of it, so I look at him.

He's smiling.

"This guy looks like he's dancing because he likes to feel the woman's body against his," the teacher says. "He's enjoying it."

I must've blushed, or in some other way betrayed embarrassment, because he directed his next comment to me.

"Too many men in this area, even some of the better known dancers, are like androids just going through the steps," he says. "But women can feel it when they have a man who dances like he enjoys being with them. And they like it."

He looks at her.

"Right?"

She smiles -- in agreement. Then he walks away.

When I take her into my arms again, she says to me that I have a really good feel to my lead.

Soon after we start walking and swaying on the floor again, I say aloud to her: "Damn, I love this dance."

Then silently, I think to myself: And here I was thinking I was a pervert.
